Spite & Malice: A Two-Player Card Game of Strategic Patience
Spite & Malice is a thrilling two-player card game that tests your strategic thinking and patience. Each player begins with a five-card hand, a twenty-card payoff pile, and four empty side stacks.
The game board features three empty center stacks and a stock pile containing the remaining cards.
The goal? Be the first to empty your payoff pile!
Center stacks are built sequentially from Ace to King, regardless of suit. Kings are wild; placing a King on any center stack transforms it into the card needed to continue the sequence. For example, a King placed on a Ten becomes a Queen. Completed center stacks (King on Jack) are shuffled back into the stock pile.
Side stacks can accept any card, but only the top card is playable.
At the start of your turn, replenish your hand to five cards from the stock pile. Your turn allows for several moves:
- Play the top card of your payoff pile onto a center stack.
- Play the top card of a side stack onto a center stack.
- Play a card from your hand onto a center stack.
- Play a card from your hand onto a side stack (ending your turn).
Victory is achieved by emptying your payoff pile onto the center stacks. The winning player earns points equal to the number of cards remaining in their opponent's payoff pile. A tie occurs if the stock pile is exhausted before a player wins.
The first player to reach 50 points wins the match!
