Suikoden STAR LEAP bietet ein konsolenreifes RPG-Erlebnis, das für mobile Geräte optimiert wurde. Die Entwickler enthüllten ihre kreative Vision während eines exklusiven Famitsu-Interviews im März 2025.

Produzent Shinya Fujimatsu erläuterte Konamis Mobile-First-Strategie: "Mobile-Zugänglichkeit ermöglicht es uns, Suikoden einem breiteren Publikum näherzubringen, während wir die Kernidentität der Serie bewahren. Wir gestalten dies als echten nummerierten Teil, der seine Vorgänger würdigt."

Das Entwicklungsteam reproduziert akribisch Konsolen-Produktionswerte – von cineastischer Erzählung bis zu orchestrierten Scores – und nutzt gleichzeitig die intuitive Spielweise mobiler Geräte.

Regisseur Yoshiki Meng Shan erläuterte die besonderen Qualitäten der Reihe: "Neben der emotionalen Erzählweise zeichnet sich Suikoden durch lebendige Kampfgeschwindigkeit und teambasierte Kampfsysteme aus, die wir sorgfältig bewahrt haben."

STAR LEAP verbindet einzigartig mehrere Zeitalter und dient sowohl als Prequel als auch Sequel zu Suikoden I-V. Beginnend zwei Jahre vor den Ereignissen des Original-Games erweitert seine Handlung mehrere Zeitlinien, während es dem Serienkanon treu bleibt.

"Wir haben STAR LEAP als perfekten Einstiegspunkt konzipiert", merkte Fujimatsu an. "Neulinge können es als ihr erstes Suikoden-Erlebnis genießen, während langjährige Fans neue Verbindungen entdecken."

Meng Shan fügte hinzu: "Als eines der prägenden RPG-Franchises Japans haben wir keine Mühen gescheut, um sicherzustellen, dass jedes Element – von Grafik bis Kampfmechaniken – dem angesehenen Erbe Suikodens gerecht wird."

Am 4. März 2025 während Suikoden Live angekündigt, befindet sich STAR LEAP derzeit in Entwicklung für iOS und Android, wobei Veröffentlichungsdetails noch folgen.
