Respawn Entertainment, das Studio hinter Apex Legends , hat ein unangekündigtes Inkubationsprojekt abgesagt, das zu Entlassungen führt. Dies wurde erstmals von Insider Gaming berichtet, unter Berufung auf einen seitdem aufgeführten LinkedIn-Post eines ehemaligen Produktionskoordinators.

IGN hat die Stornierung unabhängig bestätigt. Das als Multiplayer -FPS beschriebene Projekt stammte aus einem Team, das zuvor an einem abgesagten Star Wars -FPS -Projekt bei Respawn arbeitete. Während die genaue Anzahl der Entlassungen unbestätigt bleibt, weisen Quellen an, dass eine relativ geringe Anzahl von Personen betroffen war. Mindestens eine Person, die mit dem Projekt verbunden ist, hat LinkedIn klargestellt, dass ihre Abreise freiwillig sei.

Diese Stornierung folgt einem Muster von Projektstornierungen und Entlassungen innerhalb von EA. Im Jahr 2023 beseitigte EA 50 Arbeitsplätze in BioWare und eine nicht näher bezeichnete Zahl bei Codemastern. Ein Jahr zuvor wurden 670 Mitarbeiter des Unternehmens entlassen, darunter ungefähr zwei Dutzend Respawn, neben der Stornierung mehrerer Projekte, einschließlich der oben genannten Star Wars-FPS. Eine weitere Umstrukturierung in BioWare hat ebenfalls zu zusätzlichen Entlassungen geführt.
