Bloomberg berichtete am 25. November, dass Sony eine neue Handheld-Spielekonsole entwickelt, mit der Spieler PS5-Spiele unterwegs spielen können. Der Schritt zielt darauf ab, die Marktabdeckung von Sony zu erweitern und mit Nintendo und Microsoft zu konkurrieren. Mit dem Erfolg von Game Boy to Switch dominiert Nintendo seit langem den Handheld-Markt. Microsoft hat außerdem öffentlich erklärt, dass es in den Handheld-Markt einsteigen wird und Prototypen entwickelt.

Diese Handheld-Konsole soll basierend auf dem im letzten Jahr veröffentlichten PlayStation Portal verbessert worden sein. Das PlayStation Portal ermöglicht Benutzern das Streamen von PS5-Spielen über das Internet, hat jedoch gemischte Kritiken erhalten. Wenn Sony die Portal-Technologie verbessern und eine Handheld-Konsole entwickeln kann, auf der PS5-Spiele nativ ausgeführt werden können, wird dies zweifellos die Attraktivität seiner Produkte und Software steigern, insbesondere da der PS5-Preis dieses Jahr aufgrund der Inflation um 20 % steigt.

Natürlich ist dies nicht Sonys erster Vorstoß in den Bereich der Handheld-Konsolen.
