Der Minecraft-Film hat einen explosiven Start an den Kinokassen hingelegt und den Rekord von The Super Mario Bros. Movie übertroffen, um die einträglichste inländische Eröffnung für eine Videospielverfilmung aller Zeiten zu werden.

Mit Jason Momoa und Jack Black (der auch in The Super Mario Bros. Movie zu sehen war) übertraf diese Xbox-Spielverfilmung alle Prognosen mit einem erstaunlichen Einspielergebnis von 157 Millionen US-Dollar in nordamerikanischen Kinos. Zum Vergleich: The Super Mario Bros. Movie – derzeit die weltweit einträglichste Spielverfilmung – spielte an seinem Eröffnungswochenende im April 2023 146 Millionen US-Dollar ein.

Zusätzlich zu 144 Millionen US-Dollar aus internationalen Märkten erreichte der Minecraft-Film ein globales Eröffnungswochenende von insgesamt 301 Millionen US-Dollar. Bei einem Produktionsbudget von 150 Millionen US-Dollar vor Marketingkosten könnte Warner Bros. seine Investition möglicherweise bereits wieder hereingeholt haben.
