Funcom, der Entwickler hinter der mit Spannung erwarteten Dune: Awakening , hat kürzlich ein Update über das Geschäftsmodell und die Strategie des Spiels nach der Startkapital des Spiels bereitgestellt und bestätigt, dass das Spiel am 20. Mai vollständig starten wird und eine frühe Zugriffsphase umgeht. Inspiriert von Frank Herberts legendärem Science-Fiction-Roman und seinen Filmadaptionen wird dieses Multiplayer-Überlebensspiel trotz seiner MMO-Klassifizierung kein Abonnement erfordern.

Anstelle eines Abonnementmodells plant Funcom die Unterstützung von Dune: Awakening mit kostenlosen Updates, die neue Inhalte, Funktionen und Verbesserungen einführen. Das Studio wird außerdem ein "klassisches Geschäftsmodell" annehmen, das optionale herunterladbare Inhalte (DLCs) enthält. Dieser Ansatz spiegelt Funcoms kontinuierliche Unterstützung für ihre anderen MMOs wie Anarchy Online und Conan Exiles wider, die weiterhin kostenlose Updates, DLCs und Erweiterungen erhalten, lange nach ihrer ersten Veröffentlichung. Die Standardausgabe von Dune: Awakening kostet 49,99 US -Dollar. Für diejenigen, die nach mehr suchen, bieten die Deluxe Edition bei 69,99 USD und die ultimative Ausgabe bei 89,99 USD einen fünftägigen Vorsprung und exklusive Artikel. Die Deluxe- und Ultimate -Editionen umfassen einen Saisonpass, der im Laufe der Zeit den Zugang zu vier DLCs gewährt, wobei der erste zum Start verfügbar ist.

Die Deluxe Edition kommt mit der Rüstung des Sardaukar, der gefürchteten Elite -Militärkraft innerhalb des Universums des Spiels.
