Sony hat inzwischen geantwortet und das Problem auf einen technischen Fehler in der offiziellen Nachrichtenfunktion zurückgeführt.

Das Unternehmen gab über X (ehemals Twitter) bekannt, dass das Problem behoben wurde. Sie betonten, dass an der Standardanzeige der Spielnachrichten keine Änderungen vorgenommen wurden.

Vor der Lösung äußerten PS5-Benutzer erhebliche Frustration über die aufdringliche Werbung und veralteten Nachrichtenartikel, die ihre Startbildschirme dominierten. Diese Änderungen, die Berichten zufolge schrittweise über mehrere Wochen hinweg eingeführt wurden, fanden ihren Höhepunkt im neuesten Systemupdate. Während der aktualisierte Startbildschirm nun angeblich Kunst und Nachrichten anzeigt, die für das aktuell fokussierte Spiel des Benutzers relevant sind, bleibt die negative Stimmung bestehen. Einige Nutzer bleiben kritisch und halten die Umsetzung für eine schlechte Entscheidung. Ein Benutzer kommentierte in den sozialen Medien den Ersatz einzigartiger Spielgrafiken durch „beschissene Miniaturansichten“ aus dem Newsfeed und äußerte den Wunsch nach einer Opt-out-Option. Ein anderer stellte den Grund dafür in Frage, einen Premiumpreis für eine Konsole zu zahlen, nur um dann unerwünschter Werbung ausgesetzt zu sein.
