Die Ankündigung einer Fortsetzung des beliebten Adventure Game ōkami bei den Game Awards im vergangenen Jahr löste bei den Fans eine weit verbreitete Aufregung aus, obwohl Details über das Spiel rar sind. In einem kürzlichen Interview mit IGN lieferten Project Leads einige Erkenntnisse und bestätigten, dass die "ōkami -Fortsetzung" in der Tat eine direkte Fortsetzung der Geschichte des ursprünglichen Spiels ist.

Der Capcom -Produzent Yoshiaki Hirabayashi bestätigte, dass das neue Spiel dort aufnimmt, wo der erste aufgehört hat. Als Regisseur Hideki Kamiya nach der Anwesenheit des großen Gottes Amaterasu im Trailer gefragt wurde, antwortete Director Hideki Kamiya spielerisch mit "I Wonder ...", bevor Hirabayashi Amaterasus Rückkehr bestätigte.

Während diese Bestätigung die Fans nicht überraschen mag, gab es viele Spekulationen darüber, wie die Fortsetzung das Erbe von ōkami ansprechen würde. Bemerkenswerterweise gibt es bereits eine Fortsetzung, ōkamiden, die für den Nintendo DS veröffentlicht wurde, das Amaterasus Kind Chibiterasu folgt und mehrere Zeichen aus dem Original enthält. Ōkamiden erhielt jedoch gemischte Kritiken, teilweise aufgrund seiner Plattform und der Abwesenheit von wichtigsten Originalteammitgliedern wie Kamiya.

Als Hirabayashi nach ōkamiden und seiner potenziellen Anerkennung in der neuen Fortsetzung befragt wurde, erkannte er die Fangemeinde des Spiels und das abwechslungsreiche Feedback an. Er erklärte: "Wir wissen, dass es Fans da draußen gibt, die natürlich wie das Spiel wie das Spiel sind. Und wir wissen auch das Feedback zum Spiel da draußen, wie die Geschichte genommen wurde und wie vielleicht Teile der Geschichte nicht mit dem übereinstimmten, was die Leute erwarteten. Damit haben wir auch die Fortsetzung, jetzt, wie wir es zuvor erklären, ist eine Fortsetzung der Story der ursprünglichen Basis.

Das Ende von ōkami bereitet die Bühne für eine Fortsetzung, wobei Amaterasu und ein weiterer Charakter eine neue Reise im ursprünglichen Spiel nicht erforscht haben und ausreichend Platz für neue Herausforderungen und Entwicklungen hinterlassen.

Leider müssen die Fans auf weitere Details warten, da sich die Fortsetzung von ōkami noch in den sehr frühen Entwicklungsstadien befindet. Die frühe Ankündigung des Teams wurde von Aufregung angetrieben, aber wie Hirabayashi bemerkte: "Es könnte ein wenig dauern, bis wir wieder sprechen könnten."
